Are the lessons in Enqlish and will I need to learn Romanian?

All lectures are in English thus Romanian language is not required as a pre-requisite to apply. However students will be required to learn Romanian language for their clinicals, this is to enable them communicate with patients. Romanian language is offered as part of the course in the 1st 2 years of Medicine. There are also many affordable private tutors available for lessons.

When does the academic year begin?

The academic year begins in the every first monday of October.Applications need to be in by September. However it is advised that applicants apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Most times, all available seats are taken by the June. Students once registered may arrive late under special circumstances.

I finish grade 12 in November. Can I apply this academic year?

It is best you apply early during the year using your previous year's school results provided that these results are standard and accepted. These students may arrive in Constanta as late as 25th November if special permission is given. Quite often though all seats are reserved by August/September.

What are the pre-requisites to apply?

We require all applicants to be at least 18 years of age and to have completed 12 years of grade school preferably with a science background. Students should also be fluent in English. These are all the requirements. No entrace examination, pre-med or college needed.

How much are tuition fees?

University tuition fees are 3600$ for under-graduate studies and 3800$ for graduate studies.If students pay in full,there could be a reduction of up to 10%,but this is decided on the university's discretion.  Please read more about this.

How do I apply?

Click online application form to apply online now. You will then receive a unique student reference number which you will need to submit along with your documents to the Students Dream Academic Counselors. Your documents will be assessed and our staff will contact you to confirm that everything is in order or whether any other items are required. Your acceptance letter will then be processed.

Can I practice in the US, UK or Canada?

Yes you can however you will need to sit for the USMLE (US), PLAB (UK) or Canadian Board Exams. Please note that you will also be required to consult your state medical board or specific country medical council to confirm the acceptance of the degree. Some states in the U.S. have different policies. Most countries allow you to sit for their board exam if the faculty is listed by the WHO.

Is the university recognised internationally?

The university is recognised by the medical councils of numerous countries because the university is WHO listed,this qualifies it to an international recognisition,thus you can practise any where in the world based on the country's legislation on foreign trained doctors.

Who are Students Dream Academic Counselors and the International Admissions Office?

The International Admissions office is designed to offer international applicants the necessary assitanceand guidance through the entire admission process as well as initial settling down when the students finally arrive on campus.it is joint allaince between Ovidus University of Constanta and an International Education Experts (Students Dreams Academic Counselors) that serves to assist students in the successful placement in Ovidus University of Constanta and other Romanian Universities.

When and How do I pay my fees?

The school fees (Tuition Fees Only) is payable only when you receive your acceptance letter. It is payable into the school account.Lately the embassies of Romania require students to ay at least 50% of the fees before visa can be issued. Please enquire for details.

Can i get any sort of financial assitance or scholarship?

Students can qualify for scholarships based on exceptional Academic performance .This scholarship is given by the Romanian ministry of Education and Research on the recommendation of the university.
Another form of scholarship exists which is in collobration with Embassies of certain countries in Romania and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
However,all qualification is based on Academic Performance.

How many students are in each class?

There are about 40 students in a class so making learning very interesting. The class is divided into 4 groups of 10 students each making interaction with teachers and colleagues possible and easy.
There is a rich blend of students from various countries in the world,United states of America,United Kingdom,pakistan,Sri Lanka,Nigeria,Morocco,Denmark,Somalia,Jordan,India to mention just a few.

How is housing arrannged in Constanta?

Hostels are readily available to students; the SDAC has in association with the Faculty hostel spaces reserved for students even before their arrival to the campus.
There are also apartments available and can also be reserved before the students arrival.
In comparison between the two based on prices,the hostel is ovioulsy cheaper because all the accomodation fee covers all the bills;heating,water,electricity,tv etc but for those living in apartments,these bills would be paid by the students aside the monthly rent they have to pay which could be double or more of the hostel,however sharing with other students would be easier,cheaper and more fun.

What language is spoken in Constanta?

The natives speak Romanian, as well as Hungarian but the language of instruction is English delivered by Young,patient,able and hardworking professors.

Can I make a change to my application once it's been submitted?

After the initial submission of your application, you may only make changes to the following questions:
- Required and Alternate IDs
- Name, including Full Legal Name, Preferred Name and Alternate Names
- Contact Information, including Permanent and Preferred Mailing Addresses, and Alternate Contact Information
- You must re-certify and re-submit your application after making a change.With your user name and password,you can always reactivate your form at your own time.

How can I withdraw my application?

To withdraw your application, SDAC must receive a signed written request before your file begins the verification and pre-approval process. Once the file has been withdrawn, it cannot be reactivated for that application year. You do not need to request a withdrawal if you have not submitted your application. Your withdrawal request must include your name, SDAC ID #, date of birth, reason for withdrawal, your signature, and the following statement:
[italic]"I understand that the decision to withdraw my 2007 applicalion is final and that once withdrawn, I will not be able to be re-instated expect on special consideration."[/italic]

When is the deadline for applications to be received?

There are two dates of application deadlinc. The First Batch Applications has a
deadline of July 1st,2007. Applications must be submitted by end of the deadline date
and the initial application fee deposit must have been received by SDAC. You must
certify and submit your web-application and pay the fee by the end of the
deadline date.

What recourse do I have for missed deadlines?

SDAC grants deadline extensions but such applications are processed as
late, applications after July 1st,2007 are the late phase of applications and the
completion of the applicalion and for sucessful candidates, the receipt of their
acceptance letters might be in september.

Will I be penalized if my application is delayed due to missing materials, such as transcripts or other missing documents? What if those missing materials cause me to miss a deadline?

Incomplete documents are usually detected and the students contacted
immediately. That is why we have the pre-approval phase of the application and
a mail is sent out to applicants regarding the status of their documents.

I applied last year, so you already have my documents. Do I need to send them again?

You need not resend your documents especially thc basic ones but for documents such as transripts and other similar documents which might change over a course can be sent to us since we do not have the updated versions of such documents, you must submit new transcripts each year you apply because SDAC does not keep transcripts on file from previous years' applications.

Can I send an official sealed copy of my transcripts?

SDAC will not accept original copies of transcripts from applicants under any circumstances.Photocopies are enough,they are to be used for assessment by the university Board to determine the class you have to be placed in. Transcripts must arrive directiy from the Registrar's office.

How much does it cost to use SDAC?

SDAC has a two selection charge 1 and 2 application processing fee of 700 Euros and 1000 Euros to be chosen solely by the student,which would be paid in two phases, the initial advance payment of 300 Euros to be paid the same time when the documents are being sent and afterward the balance fee of 400 Euros which would be paid after the student has been accepted.
The second selection is 1000euros,which means the outstanding balance would be 700euros.

What is the policy regarding refunds?

The initial balance service fee payment of 300 Euros is not refundable, but you will only be eligible for a refund if you withdraw before your application begins the SDAC verification and pre-approval process. The second balance fee is refundable.

How do i pay the fees?

The means of paying of the fees is via bank to bank wire transfer and the use of money bookers services,if you are a member.

What is the second means of paying the fees?

The second option for those unable to pay the application processing via the first means,the second option is via cheque,drafts and international money order.
For drafts,it is to be payable to LYSADORS INVESTMENTS LIMITED. It should be in the equivalence of 300 euros, www.oanda.com for the initial application fee and then the balance depending on the option you choose.
